The dermograph was developed by a leading dermascopist plastic surgeon and eminent bio-physicist team. The dermograph is a combination of 3 analysis technologies; dermascopy, spectroscopy and nanotechnology. The transdermal imager reaches the dermal layer of the skin 2mm beneath the epidermis. At this level it is able to identify different levels of quality in 6 key elements of the skin. (read below). This transdermal analysis eliminates the need to make educated guesses from skin surface analysis during consultations.

How Does It Work?

The Dermograph handset produces a selection of light wavelengths which interact with the skin and send information back to the receiver to decode the feedback. The receiver is decoding the amount of energy or light that is returning from the skin back to the device. In the skin different structures absorb particular amounts of the light/energy wavelength and as a result the rebounding information is able to provide both qualitative and quantitative information in these skin structures.

The Dermograph uses three dermal analysis technologies to provide a thorough assessment of your dermal layer below the skin’s surface.

These technologies are:

Dermascopy: Dermoscopes are used extensively for skin changes and abnormality detection with accurate results.
Spectroscopy: Spectroscopy is the study of the interaction between matter and emitted energy. This determines the skin profile by analysing how skin structures and elements like moisture, oil, glands, melanin and collagen interact with different wavelengths of visible light.
Nanotechnology: Nanotechnology is the manipulation of matter at an atomic and molecular scale. Using a special effect that occurs with such a manipulation of visible light when it interacts with skin we are able to decode the state of the skin’s structures.

The Dermograph Report

Once the Dermograph has received it’s skin structure and function readings from the analysis a report is generated. The Dermograph software is programmed with every ingredient and function to allow for the perfect matching of skin care and treatments for you. The report will advise you of the top three recommended skin care products along with the top three skin treatments that will provide you with the optimal ingredients for your skin. Using the Dermograph during your skin analysis and along your treatment progress leads to better outcomes as the key elements of concern in your dermal layer are being accurately targeted.

The elements that the Dermograph assess are dermal oilness, skin hydration, skin texture, redness, hyperpigmentation and collagen and elasticity.

Dermal Oiliness

We all need a certain level of oil in our skin, it is a natural hydrator and supports the other functions that occur in the dermal layer that procedure a healthy surface layer of skin. Excess oil can lead to concerns such as acne, sebaceous hyperplasia and congestion to name a few. A lack of dermal oil can contribute to poor skin hydration leading to a number of premature ageing concerns.

Skin Hydration

Skin hydration, whilst ensuring we look healthy and youthful, also plays a large role in skin barrier function and the outward appearance of your skin. Poor hydration will not only lead to dry and flakey skin yet allow for premature fine lines and wrinkle to begin to form.

Skin Texture

Poor skin texture makes your skin look dull and is not very good at reflecting light. Light reflection of a face makes it appear youthful and healthy. Having poor skin texture will age your appearance and can on occasion makes your skin appear as if it needs a good clean.

Redness

Skin redness can be the cause of many factors, this predominantly comes down to poor barrier function and rosacea type symptoms. The dermograph can identify what structure or function is your skin’s barrier is not operating at an optimal level causing redness in your skin.

Hyperpigmentation

Clusters of melanin in the skin causes pigmentation from the dermal layer right through to the skin’s surface. Utilising the Dermograph to analyse the amount of pigmentation under the skin’s surface indicating the level of progression and possible treatment outcomes that can be achieved.

Collagen and elasticity

Collagen and elastin are the elements that provide the skin with it’s structure. Depletion of these levels in the dermal layer leads to fine line, wrinkles and skin sagging. The Dermograph will analyse the levels of collagen and elastin to determine the level of treatment or strength of skin care required.
