There are a number of products out now that allow you to do a facial peel in your own home. And while those can be useful, at-home peels have a lower concentration of active ingredients. That’s because of strict regulations controlling what concentration of ingredients can be sold over the counter, especially as at-home peels need to be suitable for all, if not most skin types.
A professional peel has more room for differentiation and customisation of ingredients to fit your exact skin type. The side effects of professional peels are probably stronger than at-home peels due to the higher concentration of active ingredients, but your clinician will talk you through all you need to know for minimal risk.
