Overview of Mini Labiaplasty

Mini Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure designed to reduce the size of large inner labia (Labia Minora). Women with this concern may complain of self-consciousness, local irritation and discomfort.

Unlike traditional labiaplasty, the Mini Labiaplasty technique involves the trimming of excess inner labia alone. As such, the clitoral hooding and outer labia (Labia Majora) are not surgically manipulated. The significantly less invasive nature of this technique using CO2 Laser or Radio-wave surgery entails a quicker recovery and less risk of complications (as compared to the scalpel incision technique).

The decision to undergo any cosmetic surgery is quite daunting for most people. It can be extremely difficult to find the right doctor who you can trust. Most patients want to acheive natural looking results when it comes to any cosmetic procedure. They don't want anyone else to know that they have had a surgery done. They want to choose a doctor who is able to listen to them carefully and understand their concerns. A doctor who's surgical skills deliver safe and hassle-free results with minimal discomfort and down-time.

Dr Ehsan Jadoon has successfully performed countless Mini Labiaplasty surgeries in Perth and is renowned for achieving natural-looking results with high patient satisfaction.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Mini Labiaplasty procedure takes approximately 60 minutes.

We routinely perform this procedure under safe doses of local anaesthesia while the patient is conscious.

We also offer this procedure under twilight sedation at an accredited day hospital in Subiaco, in case the patient prefers to be asleep during the surgery. (Additional costs are associated with this option.)

Once the treatment area has been numbed, you will be unable to feel any pain. At Medisculpt we make every effort to ensure that every procedure we perform entails minimal pain or discomfort.

Following Mini Labiaplasty surgery, the female genital region will be tender and swollen. This will subside to a great extent after approximately one week. We suggest icing the area intermittently for the first 24 hours with a female pad worn for several days to keep the area dry. Full recovery can take up to six weeks. During the recovery period, patients should refrain from exercise and sexual intercourse for 4 to 6 weeks.

Most people tolerate this procedure exceptionally well. Patients can go home straight after the surgery and do not require prolonged post-surgical hospital admission or monitoring.

At Medisculpt, we have the most extensive range of Fractional CO2 lasers to help reduce any type of scarring, whether related to a surgery or trauma.

Most patients can return to office-based work within 5 to 10 days. We recommend at least two weeks off if your work involves prolonged physical activity, walking or travelling. A medical certificate can be organised, which will not mention the name of your procedure.

Light activity is permitted after 72 hours, while light exercise is usually acceptable after two weeks provided the wound has healed optimally.

Like any surgical procedure, this procedure comes with possible risks and complications that include, but are not limited to:

  • Infection
  • Over-correction
  • Inadequate correction
  • Swelling and discomfort
  • Delayed healing and unfavourable scarring
  • Nerve irritation and numbness
  • Temporary skin discolouration in the incision lines

To be considered suitable for undergoing any elective cosmetic procedure, you have to:

  • Be physically fit and active
  • Have a balanced and healthy diet
  • Be of sound emotional/mental health
  • Have realistic expectations of the outcome

We recommend that you do all your grocery shopping before surgery and restock your fridge and pantry with healthy food. We also recommend that you organise for someone to give you a lift back home as driving is not recommended for the first few days after the surgery. You should also consider arranging for a family member or friend to stay with you for the first few days after your surgery.

Additionally, ensure that you avoid blood-thinning medication such as Nurofen, aspirin, heparin and warfarin. Please discuss this with your general practitioner in detail and make sure you are aware of any side effects of your current medication.

Herbal medication and nutritional supplements such as St John’s Wart, garlic, ginger, ginseng, fish oil, and homeopathic or herbal tonics should also be ceased for at least two weeks before your surgery. These substances are known for their potential to thin blood and as such, may cause excessive bleeding during and after the surgery.

It is imperative that you follow the pre-surgical instructions given to you by our staff. Alcohol consumption and cigarette smoking are two primary culprits when it comes to increasing potential risks associated with any surgery. Please avoid these harmful agents for at least two weeks (or more) before your surgery.

Consumption of alcohol and cigarettes:

  • Interfere with the body's natural healing processes
  • Increase the pain and discomfort associated with any operation
  • Increase the risk of potential complications such as bleeding, wound infection and scarring
  • Prolong the recovery time.

In clinical practice, we have found that a herbal substance called Arnica is helpful in reducing bleeding during or after the surgery. It also aids healing and minimises bruising. This naturally occurring herb is available in the form of oral supplements and is found in most health food stores and pharmacies in Australia.

Above all, a healthy lifestyle, good sleep and a balanced nutritional diet after surgery are essential factors for optimum healing.

Labiaplasty is a relatively minor surgical procedure. At Medaesthetics®, Labiaplasty surgery is performed under local anaesthesia. The procedure is carried out using radio wave or Co2 Laser devices. There is minimal bleeding and relatively quick recovery compared to the scalpel incision technique.

Following labiaplasty, the female genital region is tender and swollen. This will subside to a great extent after about one week. We suggest icing the area intermittently for the first 24 hours and a female pad should be worn for several days to keep the area dry. Full recovery can take up to six weeks and exercise and sexual intercourse should be refrained for for 4-6 weeks.

Rare complications of Labiaplasty surgery can include infection, discomfort, scarring, under or over correction, sensory loss or sensory changes to the labia area, and pigmentary changes.

Labiaplasty procedure fees vary from person to person depending upon the extent of correction required. Prices are between $3500 and $4500. There is no theatre fees charged as the procedure is performed under local anaesthesia only.

"Art, indeed, consists in the conception of the result to be produced before its realisation in the material." - Aristotle

The practice of aesthetic medicine and surgery is as much an art as it is a science. The aesthetic sense of a clinician in evaluating a patient is as important as his or her clinical skills. At Medisculpt®, our philosophy is to artistically enhance your appearance in a way that stresses elegance over glamour.
