General Information About Nose Filler Treatments

Suitable Candidates

  • Those looking for subtle enhancements to their nose without the commitment of surgery.
  • Individuals wanting to correct minor cosmetic concerns like bumps, asymmetry, or a flat bridge.
  • Patients seeking a temporary solution to assess changes before considering permanent surgery.

Pain Management

We use high-strength topical numbing cream, inhalation (laughing) gas and skin-cooling devices applied to the nasal areas to make the procedure as tolerable as possible.

Aftercare Tips for Nose Fillers and Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty

  • Avoid Touching: Refrain from touching or massaging the treated area.
  • Ice Application: Apply ice packs to reduce swelling and bruising.
  • Avoid Heat: Steer clear of hot environments like saunas or steam rooms for a few days.

Potential Risks & Complications Associated with Nose Fillers and Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty

Nose filler treatments have a relatively higher risk of complications if not performed by an inexperienced injector.

Some risks and complications include:

  • Temporary bruising and localised swelling for first few days.
  • Some tenderness in the nose/ nasal area for a day or two.
  • Allergic reaction to dermal filler gel (extremely rare and reversible with filler dissolving injections).
  • Vascular event/necrosis (extremely rare).

When performed correctly by an experienced clinician, Nose Filler treatment can offer a non-surgical alternative to a surgical nose job (Rhinoplasty) to carefully selected patients.

Frequently Asked Questions About Nose Fillers and Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty

Who is not a suitable candidate for this procedure?

Patients who have had a surgical rhinoplasty in the past are usually not good candidates for nose fillers. However, there can be exceptions to this rule.

Patients who want a reduction in the over-all size of their nose, whether it’s the projection of the nose or width of the nose may not be suitable for this procedure.

What are the potential risks associated with this procedure?

The nose is a very confined anatomical region and has a very restricted blood supply. It is critical for the treating doctor to understand the vascular anatomy of the nose and inject the filler only in allowed areas. One of the biggest risk associated with nose fillers is the risk of blockage of blood supply in one of the major arteries. This can happen if the filler is either injected directly into the artery or if the filler compresses the artery. Patients wanting Nose Fillers need to be aware of this rare complication.

What is the downtime associated with this procedure?

The procedure has little downtime in most cases. Minor swelling and redness associated with the procedure usually settle within few hours to a day or two.

Is there a risk of blindness with this procedure?

The risk of blindness in one or both eye is an extremely rare risk which is associated with all dermal filler treatments of the face. Millions of dermal filler treatments are performed round the world each year and only a handful of cases of temporary or permanent blindness have been reported. At Medaesthetics, we have not seen a single such complication since opening doors in 2009.

What are the benefits of non-surgical rhinoplasty and nose fillers?

The benefits of this treatment include minimal risk, shorter recovery times, immediate results and improved comfortability when compared to traditional rhinoplasty. This treatment can also be corrected quickly and easily at any time, as opposed to the comparatively permanent results tied to surgical rhinoplasty. Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks, however, the risk of this form of treatment is considered considerably less than surgical rhinoplasty.
