Welcome To Medaesthetics

Doctor-owned, boutique Cosmetic Boutique Clinics since 2009. At Medaesthetics, we offer the entire spectrum of cosmetic and anti-ageing treatments including PDO Threads, Anti-Wrinkle Treatments , Cool Sculpting, Nose Reshaping, Laser Mole Removal and Dermatological Laser Therapies.

As we age, the effects of sun damage and gravity on our skin become more noticeable. In the face, collagen production slows down, and facial fat pads start to disappear. This results in facial sagging, fine lines and wrinkles. In recent years, PDO thread lift treatment has become a popular cosmetic procedure to address these concerns.

At Medaesthetics, we have been performing various types of Thread Lift procedures in Perth since 2009.

What Are PDO Threads?

PDO threads are a popular targeted cosmetic treatment for skin tightening, lifting, and rejuvenation

PDO threads are made of a biocompatible material that is commonly used in medical sutures. It is slowly absorbed by the body over a course of several months.

These threads are inserted under the skin using micro-needles to stimulate collagen production, resulting in firmer and rejuvenated skin.

Commonly treated areas include:

  • Face (Facial lines & Wrinkles)
  • Neck & Décolletage (Crepey skin)
  • Lower Eyelids (Crepey skin)
  • Upper Lips (Smokers lines)

Depending on the specific treatment area and desired results, PDO threads come in different types and sizes. They can be inserted using a needle or a fine cannula, depending on the technique used by the practitioner.

The treatment typically takes about 30-60 minutes, depending on the area being treated, and is performed under local anaesthesia (topical numbing cream).

After the treatment, there may be some swelling, redness, or bruising which typically resolve within a few days.

The results of PDO thread treatment become noticeable after few weeks as collagen production in the treated area increases. The effects can last anywhere from 6-18 months, depending on the type of thread used and the individual’s skin condition.

PDO threads are an effective treatment for those who wish to achieve a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance. It is important to choose a qualified and experienced practitioner. Contact us for more information or drop into the closest of our 5 clinics across Perth.

  • Pain and Discomfort: Can occur at the site of the thread insertion and during the recovery period.
  • Thread Migration or Extrusion: Threads may move from their original position or poke through the skin, requiring removal (very rare).
  • Skin Dimpling or Irregularity: The skin over the threads may appear irregular or dimpled temporarily, especially if the threads are placed superficially.
  • Allergic Reaction: Rarely, individuals may react to the thread material.

Note: It is important to discuss the potential risks and side effects of PDO thread treatment with a qualified medical practitioner before undergoing the procedure. Practitioners will also provide detailed post-treatment instructions to minimise the risk of complications and ensure the best possible results

General Information – PDO Threads

Threading Results:

The results of PDO threads can vary from person to person, but generally, patients will see improvement within 4 to 8 weeks after the procedure.

Mechanism of Action:

After the threads are inserted under the skin, they stimulate the body’s natural healing process, leading to increased collagen production and dermal thickening. The newly produced collagen can take several weeks to form and strengthen, resulting in gradual improvements to the treated area.

Areas Improved by PDO Threads:

  • Face: Using PDO threads stimulates collagen production, increasing skin firmness in the face
  • Neck: PDO threads help with skin tightening around the neck area, leading to a more youthful appearance.
  • Décolletage: The skin around the décolletage benefits from PDO thread treatments by becoming more taut and even.

Treatment Limitations:

While PDO thread treatment can be an effective option for improving the appearance of loose & sagging skin, there are some limitations to consider.

PDO thread treatment may be helpful for mild sagging of the skin. However, in cases of more noticeable sagging, procedures such as advanced thread lift, thermage skin tightening or surgical facelifts may be necessary to achieve the desired results.

Pain Management:

With each treatment, special attention is paid to minimise any discomfort. This is achieved by applying specially formulated, ultra-high strength numbing cream, local anaesthetic along with Inhalation Anaesthesia Gas (Laughing Gas).

Aftercare Tips:

  • Avoid Touching: Refrain from touching or massaging the treated area for at least 24 hours.
  • Sleep Position: If possible, sleep on your back with your head elevated for the first few nights to reduce swelling.
  • Avoid Strenuous Activities: Stay away from vigorous exercise and activities for 1-2 weeks.
  • Follow Skincare Routine: Use gentle skincare products and follow all post-treatment instructions.

Careful patient selection is the key to clinically successful outcomes.

Who can benefit from PDO Threads?

Anyone experiencing facial ageing or sun-damaged skin can benefit from PDO threads. PDO threads increase skin elasticity and help to create a smooth, even skin tone.

What are various types of Threads lifts?

There are two main types:
– Skin Revitalising threads (PDO)
-Tissue Lifting threads (MINT, Silhouette Soft etc)

As the name suggests, the lifting threads are used to lift the sagging facial tissue. The revitalising threads are primarily used for stimulating collagen and rejuvenating ageing skin.

How is the procedure performed? Is it painful?

Threads are inserted deep under the skin using fine needles (or cannulas). Once inserted, Threads are not visible on the skin’s surface.

How long do the results last for?

Most patients report longevity of up to two years after their treatment. Due to the absorbable nature of threads, more threads can be inserted at any time to maintain the results in the long term.

Is it possible to have other cosmetic procedures with thread lifts?

At Medaesthetics, we routinely combine PDO threads with other treatments such as dermal enhancers, fat transfer and laser skin rejuvenation procedures.

What are the potential risks and complications?

Temporary bruising, swelling and localised redness of the treated area.
Skin puckering may happen after a thread lift which can be fixed. Rarely, there may be an allergic reaction to the threads which may require other treatment interventions.

Over the years, Dr Jadoon has seen and treated almost every possible adverse reaction to thread lift and is highly experienced with managing all potential complications. We regularly fix thread lift complications for patients of other clinics.

Who is not suitable for this procedure?

– Patients who do not have realistic expectations.
– Those with any medical contraindications or any undiagnosed skin condition.

What is the recovery like?

Mild swelling and bruising can be seen in people who are prone to bruising. Full healing can take 5 to 10 days.

Light activity and light exercise can be recommenced seventy-two hours after the thread lift if there are no issues with healing.

What are alternative treatments to a Thread Lift?

– Dermal Moisturisers
– Bio-remodelling Skin Rejuvenation
– Bio-stimulating Skin Rejuvenation
– Fractional CO2 Laser Skin Rejuvenation

How much do PDO Threads cost?

This depends upon the number of threads being used. Procedure fees are from $500 to $1000 per session.
