Melasma (Hormonal Pigmentation) is a skin disorder characterised by the appearance of dark patches on the face, especially on the cheeks and forehead area.

Dermamelan® Depigmentation System is a treatment modality that addresses troublesome Melasma and other forms of pigmentation. It is generally used for patients who are not responding to topical skin products and laser treatments.

The treatment is also helpful in various other types of skin conditions such as:

• Freckles (ephelides)
• Age-spots and Sunspots (Senile Lentigo)
• Premature skin ageing due to UV radiation

Melasma usually affects females of child-bearing age. It is generally more prevalent in people with darker skin types but can also affect lighter skin individuals.

Treatment Summary – Dermamelan Peel

No. of Treatments

1 treatment session in the clinic. Followed by a 4-month home-based skincare program.

Procedure Time

30 – 60 minutes in the clinic.

Discomfort Level

We aim for minimal discomfort once the skin is numbed using a strong anaesthetic cream, however it can vary.

Recovery Time

3-5 days of skin peeling.

Results

Results are seen as soon as the skin heals.

Duration of Results

Results are long-term as long as the patient doesn’t expose the skin to direct sunlight without sunscreen.

Resumption of Usual Activities

Immediately for most activities.
Avoid direct sunlight and chlorinated water until the skin fully heals.
