General Information – Pico Laser Perth

Potential Risks & Complications Of PicoSure Genesis Laser Skin Treatments include:

• Prolonged redness which may last for a few weeks
• Reactivation of cold sores
• Allergic reaction
• Skin Redness and Irritation: Patients may experience temporary redness, swelling, and irritation at the treatment site, similar to a mild sunburn. These symptoms are generally short-lived.
• Pigmentation Changes: There’s a risk of hyperpigmentation (darkening of the skin) or hypopigmentation (lightening of the skin), especially in patients with darker skin tones. These changes can be temporary or permanent.
• Scarring: Though rare, there’s a small chance of scarring. The risk is higher if the skin is not cared for properly after treatment or if the patient has a history of keloid scarring.
• Infection: Any procedure that disrupts the skin barrier carries a risk of infection. Following post-treatment care instructions meticulously reduces this risk.
• Blisters and Crusting: Some patients may experience blistering or crusting in the treated area. These side effects are generally temporary but require proper care to prevent scarring or infection.
• Acne or Milia Formation: The treatment can lead to temporary flare-ups of acne or the formation of milia (small, white bumps) in the treated area.
• Photosensitivity: The treated skin may become more sensitive to sunlight, increasing the risk of sunburn. It is crucial to use broad-spectrum sunscreen and avoid direct sun exposure as much as possible after treatment.
• Bruising: In some cases, especially in sensitive areas, patients might experience bruising. However, this is generally temporary.
• Discomfort: Some patients report a sensation of discomfort or pain during the treatment, although cooling mechanisms and numbing creams are often used to minimize this.

• Unsatisfactory Results or Need for Multiple Sessions: There might be a need for multiple treatments to achieve desired results, and in some cases, the results may not meet the patient’s expectations.

How Does Pico Genesis Work?

PICO Genesis uses gentle non-thermal pulses of laser light to target unwanted pigment and remodel the upper layers of the skin. Over time, the pigment will gradually disappear, enhancing the natural glow of the skin.

PICO Genesis is safe for all skin types.

The Pain Factor

Our highly experienced clinical team do their utmost to minimise any treatment associated pain or discomfort. Having fine motor skills and gentle pair of hands are important assets for any clinician.

Depending upon the type of procedure being performed, we use high-strength topical numbing cream, inhalation (laughing) gas, local anaesthesia as well as skin cooling device to make the procedure as tolerable as possible.

We have a special interest in Pico Genesis Laser Skin Treatments due to their efficacy and versatile applications.

Important

It is important to understand that laser skin treatments which are not medically supervised and are performed at most franchised laser salons, cannot deliver the same level of results and safe clinical outcomes that specialised medical & dermatology clinics like MedAesthetics are able to offer. It is, therefore, vital that you choose your treatment provider based upon their experience and reputation and not just on marketing hype or discount pricing.

How To Choose Your Treatment Provider

The decision to undergo any cosmetic treatment can be quite daunting for some people. It can be tough to find the right clinician who you can trust.

People want to choose a clinician who can listen to them carefully and understand their concerns. Someone whose clinical skills deliver effective and hassle-free results with minimal discomfort or downtime.

We recommend that people should do their due diligence before choosing their treatment provider and not base their decision solely on the cheapest pricing in town. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for.
